Magical Lights, Ice Rink, Hot Chocolate

Russell and I had a fun date night on Saturday. The downtown square lit up with lights and we always enjoyed going to it this time every year.
The square before lights came on.
 Pretty lights
 I love him!

We walked to the nearby ice rink that opened recently as well. I still don't know if I will ice skate this year. I debated repeatedly about it last year. It will take me a long time to decide if I will ice skate anytime soon.
The movie, "It's A Wonderful Life" was also on at the ice rink. Classic.
Maybe I will tackle this someday!

This basically sums up our night. We made hot chocolate after the lighting and dinner. So fun and magical. We are so blessed!

Christmas then Thanksgiving?

Oh, I don't like when I haven't blogged in a while. I have been busy, but just in a slight blog funk this month. I guess Russell and I try to rest up the whole month of November before December--the most busy time of year.

I was thinking about Thanksgiving. I am so very much ready to see our families. I can hardly wait. I am so ready to drive to Camden, walk through the house where I grew up and just reminisce. If you haven't noticed before, I love to reminisce. :) I have thought a lot about keeping traditions alive even when it comes to the tiny details. It makes me giddy with excitement thinking about next Thursday.

So, let me address the "elephant in the room" when it comes to Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Are you big on the rule, "NO Christmas until AFTER Thanksgiving holiday"?
Some people get so offended when others decorate their house any time before Thanksging. When I was little, my parents really were adament on the "first Thanksgiving then Christmas" rule. I am sort of in between. I LOVE Fall, and love Thanksgiving, so I try to enjoy that holiday. Russell and I always go home for Thanksgiving, so we were going to try to get a few Christmas decorations up this coming weekend. We aren't in a huge hurry about it though. I AM, however, listening to Christmas music and watching a few Christmas movies. I only do that because we have so many cd's for Christmas and too many movies for the holiday, as well.
Whatever floats your boat, y'all! Just take one day at a time, one thing at a time. Maybe after that, it won't seem so stressful. We will just soak in the memories that will be made.

Submit yourselves, then to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. James 4:7

Carrie-d AWAY

Guess what? We will get to see this famous musician in NINE days!
Yes, folks! CARRIE UNDERWOOD!!!!!
Russell and I are so very excited about seeing her!
We will head to Tulsa next week to see my very favorite.
I have always been a huge fan of Carrie Underwood from the very beginning. I remember voting for her every week on American Idol. She just always seemed and still seems real, down to earth, and not fake at all.
I loved her first hit, Jesus Take the Wheel. She wasn't ashamed of her faith from the very beginning. That is when I knew I was a devoted fan of hers. I think it is fantastic when celebrities share the love of Christ and share their faith in the spotlight.

This is the most precious clip of Carrie and Mike Fisher's interview with Oprah in May. It makes me tear up because it's so sweet.
We are ready to be blown away by her concert! WOOHOO!!!

God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood-to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished- Romans 3:25

Sweet Trick-or-Treaters

Hello again! I hope y'all had a great Halloween! Here's a recap of what we did.
Earlier last week, we carved pumpkins.

 Our pumpkins are done!
We loved having trick-or-treaters on Wednesday night. We had candy and play-doh ready for them.
 Our front porch with pumpkins
Kayden and Presley came with their mom Brandi and their friend Christie. Brandi and Christie are also my sweet friends.
Eden, the ballerina came over too! She looked SO cute in her outfit. So adorable.
Mandy, Eden, Kelsey and me.
Kelsey brought a fun mask to wear and I wore scrubs to dress as a nurse for the night. HA! I love being festive! We loved having our friends stop by. So fun.
Now it's November! This year is zipping by!
